Waiting for Hamlet at The Printers Playhouse

Tuesday 29th October at Printers Playhouse, (7 for 7.30 p.m.) an initial reading of David Visick’s award-winning play Waiting For Hamlet performed by Tim Marriott and Nicholas Collett.

This is the first reading of a new play by these two professional actors. Usually, this work is done behind closed doors but we thought it would interesting to give everyone a chance to see how the pros approach a production from the beginning.

We also want to gauge your response to the material, to try and understand what you, the audience,  find funny, touching or important. Your responses will help the cast better understand the script.

Don’t worry, there is no test and entry is free.

The play is a comedy and was described by one critic as “borne of a love for Shakespeare and perhaps an equal love of Stoppard-esque wordsmiths!” and another as “A very clever play, humorous and skillfully written.”

Tim and Nicholas are two of Eastbourne’s finest professional actors, both having recently completed very successful runs at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe. This isn’t the first time these two have appeared together, most recently they played interrogator and prisoner in the highly acclaimed, Judas.

David is a breakthrough playwright, and this piece recently won the prestigious Kenneth Branagh New Drama Writing Award.

At the end of the evening, there will be an opportunity to talk to the cast and the writer.
